BTYSTE: Students share delight for science

BTYSE 2013

The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is currently taking place at the RDS Dublin and Science Calling went along yesterday to see what experiments these budding scientists were up to.

Students from all over the country were packed into the RDS with amazing projects. Chemistry sets, skeletons and agar plates were common place in the arena. There was no hesitation when I asked for explanations of experiments and some students were so enthusiastic they weren’t happy until they showed me every detail of their project.

I haven’t been to BTYSTE for a few years and I was astonished by the number of projects as well as the delight students had sharing their quests with me. Almost every student I spoke to mentioned visiting or working with university, IT and hospital labs. This was one of their highlights and something that seems to have really inspired them to be scientists or engineers.

Here’s a taster of the wonderful science on show this weekend:

BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition is taking place until 12th January in the RDS. More information can be found here.
