This year just keeps getting better! Science Calling has been shortlisted in the new Social Media Interaction category of the Eircom Spider Awards. This category rewards effective social media presences over the last twelve months. The other seven shortlistees (see below) are businesses so it is incredible to be featured among them.
The Eircom Spiders are the longest running and most prestigious internet awards in Ireland. They reward Irish businesses and community organisations for their creativity and innovation. Science Calling was also shortlisted for these awards last year in the Big Mouth category.
There is only one other website (along with Science Calling!!) that is both an Eircom Spider shortlistee and a Blog Awards Ireland finalist – Digital Hub Development Agency. Yes, I checked. Don’t judge me!
In the award application, Science Calling’s themed weeks were a strong feature i.e. Gender Stereotypes and Science +1. These wouldn’t have happened without the many guest posts written by brilliant scientists and science communicators.
This years awards ceremony will be hosted by Des Bishop on 1st November in the Convention Centre. He’ll have a hard time beating Dara O’Briain’s excellent job last year.
Thank you again for supporting Science Calling by reading, commenting or writing. You have made this year well and truly awesome!
