Science Calling is written by Maria Delaney.

It's aim is to increase interest in science by writing about new research, our island, science activities/events and thoughts on science in a simple and appealing way (with a bit of fun thrown in). It was crowned the Best Science and Education Blog at Blog Awards Ireland 2012 and won Blog of the Year at the DCU Smedia Awards 2013.

Science Calling is no longer being updated, but explore its archive of posts.

Maria is a science and health journalist. She is a graduate of the Smurfit Institute of Genetics, Trinity College Dublin, with experience in the medical science industry. She was awarded a scholarship to complete an MA in Journalism in Dublin City University (2012/2013). Her articles have been published in the Sunday Times, the Irish Times, Guardian.co.uk and Creative Nonfiction magazine. She has also completed work for RTÉ Radio 1 and Newstalk.
